CONVENTION 2009
THE 17th HEAD VASE GATHERING
JANUARY 14-17, 2009
Collectors and vendors will be traveling from all parts of the country to meet at the Annual Head Vase Convention. Thousands of fabulous head vases of various sizes, shapes and styles will be on display in the convention room at the Radisson Resort, 2900 Parkway Blvd, Kissimmee, Florida.

REGISTRATION FEE: $55 per person to cover the cost of renting the convention floor for the Saturday for Show & Sale along with the Saturday night dessert, name badgers, advertising and gratuities. FEE FULLY REFUNDABLE if you cancel. For cancellations, phone Maddy Gordon (914) 472-0200 (someone will be there all week to answer the phone) or at the hotel.
Registration Fee $55 per person postmarked by 11/1 – after 11/1, $65 per person.
The head vase "show and sell" begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 3:00 PM on Saturday, January 17th. However, it's always great fun if you can come earlier since many dealers start opening their rooms with "head vases for sale" Wednesday night.
The hotel is the beautiful Radisson Resort Orlando Celebration. Room rate is $94 per night. A $5.00 per person, per night services fee, plus applicable tax will be applied to all reservations.
ROOM RESERVATIONS BY NOVEMBER 1ST: PLEASE make your hotel reservations early –don’t be shut out as the hotel usually fills its weekends in January and headhunters have been turned away in the past. You also risk losing the convention room rate and have to pay $140 or more. Remember, you must cancel your room 72 hours prior to arrival. If you have a last minute emergency, talk to both the hotel and me and we’ll try to accommodate you.
PLACE: RADISSON RESORT ORLANDO CELEBRATION, Kissimmee, Florida. Located 1.5 miles from the entrance to the Walt Disney World Resort on twenty tropically landscaped acres with amenities including pools, sauna, jacuzzi, tennis, restaurant, playground, game room, etc.
HOTEL RATE: $94 – One to four person occupancy. All rooms are subject to Florida sales tax. Rooms have two double beds, a king or queen size bed can be requested at registration. Phone 407-396-7000 or 800-333-3333.
RESERVATIONS AND DEPOSITS: Individuals will make their own reservations directly with Radisson Resort. When making reservations, use request code 0109HUNTER to ensure discounted group rate. Individual reservations require a first night’s deposit by valid credit card or check, cut off date November 1, 2008. Cancellations made 72 hours prior to arrival will receive a FULL REFUND.
CHECK IN/CHECK OUT: Hotel check in time is 4 pm and check out time is 11 am. Guests arriving before 4 pm will be accommodated if rooms are available. Individuals checking out after 12 noon will incur an additional charge unless otherwise agreed. Hotel can assist with arrangements for baggage storage.
EARLY DEPARTURE: Cancel in advance because an early departure fee of $50 will be charged for guests who depart one or more days prior to their scheduled departure date. The first night deposit will be credited against any early departure charge and the charges for the first night shall be included into the guest bill.
RENNINGERS EXTRAVAGANZA: A new air-conditioned, comfortable bus to Renningers in Mt. Dora is reserved for us on Friday, January 16th. Please come with us and bring your friends. It is a super way to go. We park very close to the entrance, store all of our purchases safely and go back for more. For more information and to sign up, click here.
HEAD VASE CONTEST: Already in the works for the next years Annual Head Vase convention will be a contest where participants can dress up as their favorite head vases There will be prizes for the winners. This should be a fun event and we hope you will consider participating. You may go all out and dress up from head to toe as your favorite head, or just do yourself up from the shoulders up. TENTATIVE AGENDA
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – Maddy will be on hand to greet you in the hospitality suite, room 1130. After you check in, come on over to say hello - pre-registration: pick up your name badges, meet other arrivals, pick up a program, have a snack, pick up your convention head vase and see a list of in house dealers selling from their rooms for those early buyers. Very popular!
Friday am, January 16th – Optional bus trip to Renninger's Extravaganza 8:15 am
Friday pm, January 16th – Eat dinner wherever you choose or join Bruce and Maddy at Mandolins in the convention center (even for coffee) and charge it to your room.
Saturday, January 17th – Head Vase Sale 9 am – 3 pm (Dealers set up 8 am). Dealers with 200 heads or more, please contact Maddy for special arrangements.
Saturday pm, January 17th – Eat dinner once again at the restaurant of your choice. Then come to the lobby for desert at 7 pm followed by door prizes and Dress as a Head Vase Contest. This may possibly take place in the convention center instead of the lobby. Ask Maddy at the hospitality suite when you check in.
Sunday, January 18th – Day Free. Tour Disney or other nearby Florida attractions. Why not have a Farewell Brunch with new and/or old friends at the Hotel.
